ABOUT ORBITAL SCIENCES COMMAND

Closing the frontier gap and building practical expertise for Sri Lanka's future in the global space sector.

Space science in Sri Lanka is still a young frontier — but one full of untapped talent. Orbital Sciences Command was founded to close that gap, giving students and early-career researchers a structured community where curiosity can turn into real expertise. We bring together people from engineering, physics, computer science, and beyond, recognizing that the challenges of space exploration demand thinking that crosses disciplines.

Our work spans community events, educational programming, and collaborative projects designed to build practical skills alongside genuine passion for the field. We aim to be a launchpad — connecting members to global space science conversations, mentorship, and opportunities that don't yet exist locally, while cultivating the expertise Sri Lanka will need for its own future in the space sector.

Built on a clear governance structure and a culture of collaboration, Orbital Sciences Command is as much about the people it brings together as the science it champions — a growing network of students, researchers, and innovators working to put Sri Lanka on the map in space science.
